ABOUT

We tell your stories

And, through your stories, we help you connect with customers, soothe your stakeholders and influence elites.

We excel at business communications, from case studies and white papers to strategic plans and funding prospectuses. We also write blog posts, web copy, marketing content, speeches and annual reports.

Our target audiences include: business decision makers, senior government officials, potential investors and supervisory boards.

Drawing on solid, senior level, international business experience, we get to the real business issues quickly. We understand your challenges and the problems you solve for your customers. We also understand the numbers and the strategic issues that lie behind the content you need to create.

As a result, we get to the results you need more quickly.

SERVICES

We engage your audience by telling your story

Why? Because the story-telling form is deeply ingrained in we humans. The oldest tales can be traced back to the Bronze Age, predating even written language. As a result, your audience is already attuned and will better remember your message.

It’s more than just words. “Once upon a time” is important, but there is science behind the art, too. We strive to construct your content in the way that will have the deepest, longest-lasting impact.

We write for a wide range of audiences, including: business decision makers in enterprise and small business, government and policy elites, potential investors, supervisory boards and shareholders.

We create content in different forms to meet your need: whitepapers, case studies, blog posts, business plans, briefing papers, business speeches, web copy and content marketing materials.

WHY BURNING PINE?

Ideas Words Numbers

Because it’s more than just words.

It’s not enough to simply find a writer and email them your corporate style guide. You need someone who understands business issues, who can get under the skin of your strategy, someone to augment your thinking and challenge your assumptions.

We bring many years of corporate experience at a senior level. We understand your goals and your audience’s challenges.

You’ll get to a common understanding more quickly, and won’t waste hours explaining why your readers care about working capital, or free cash flows, or the automation of data quality processes.

We’re client-focused, easy to work with and we always deliver. On time.

Equality vs freedom, a timely reminder from Cultural Offering

“A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither.  A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both.” Milton Friedman (1912 – 2006) A timely reminder from economist Milton Friedman, via Kurt Harden at Cultural Offering.

Why rare books are thriving – @Spectator_Life

The Spectator has an interesting piece on collecting rare books in the digital age, here. The article centres on one of London’s oldest antiquarian booksellers, Maggs Bros (Maggs.com), which I feel must be worth a visit. The Economist on translators – #writing

Having touched on translations the other day, I’ve just read a piece in this week’s Economist; Why Translators Have The Blues. It discusses the challenges facing the profession from machine-learning and globalisation. Lessons here for writers, too. Image credit: https://unsplash.com/@joaosilas

Microcopy, (or simply attention to detail?) – @thisisseth #contentmarketing

Seth Godin is on a roll about writing… “People rarely read to the end. And they almost never spend as much time reading your words as you spend writing them. Which makes it ironic that the little phrases we use (in designing a simple form,…

    Marcus Aurelius, by Matthew Arnold

I read somewhere (now lost) that the Victorian writer and critic Matthew Arnold was responsible for bringing Marcus Aurelius to a broader, modern audience. Here’s Arnold’s essay, originally published in The Victoria Magazine in 1863, and here republished by the University of Adelaide. For the…
