ABOUT

We tell your stories

And, through your stories, we help you connect with customers, soothe your stakeholders and influence elites.

We excel at business communications, from case studies and white papers to strategic plans and funding prospectuses. We also write blog posts, web copy, marketing content, speeches and annual reports.

Our target audiences include: business decision makers, senior government officials, potential investors and supervisory boards.

Drawing on solid, senior level, international business experience, we get to the real business issues quickly. We understand your challenges and the problems you solve for your customers. We also understand the numbers and the strategic issues that lie behind the content you need to create.

As a result, we get to the results you need more quickly.

SERVICES

We engage your audience by telling your story

Why? Because the story-telling form is deeply ingrained in we humans. The oldest tales can be traced back to the Bronze Age, predating even written language. As a result, your audience is already attuned and will better remember your message.

It’s more than just words. “Once upon a time” is important, but there is science behind the art, too. We strive to construct your content in the way that will have the deepest, longest-lasting impact.

We write for a wide range of audiences, including: business decision makers in enterprise and small business, government and policy elites, potential investors, supervisory boards and shareholders.

We create content in different forms to meet your need: whitepapers, case studies, blog posts, business plans, briefing papers, business speeches, web copy and content marketing materials.

WHY BURNING PINE?

Ideas Words Numbers

Because it’s more than just words.

It’s not enough to simply find a writer and email them your corporate style guide. You need someone who understands business issues, who can get under the skin of your strategy, someone to augment your thinking and challenge your assumptions.

We bring many years of corporate experience at a senior level. We understand your goals and your audience’s challenges.

You’ll get to a common understanding more quickly, and won’t waste hours explaining why your readers care about working capital, or free cash flows, or the automation of data quality processes.

We’re client-focused, easy to work with and we always deliver. On time.

The power of storytelling – Classical Wisdom

This should be a fascinating summit with speakers from across the disciplines: classicists, writers, academics, journalists, a communications expert, a photographer, an actress and political experts. I’ve just registered my space and, as a taster, I ordered Philip Freeman’s How to Tell a Story, an…

    How startup funding works

Here’s a great infographic on the typical funding stages from idea to IPO. It’s been kicking around on LinkedIn for a while originating, I think, with Fernando Cabral. However, the content comes the essay, How To Fund a Startup, by programmer, author and investor Paul…

“Sometimes it’s enough to offer clues.” – Rick Rubin #writing

“There’s a tremendous power in using the least amount of information to get a point across.” “No need to take the audience by the hand and walk them through the work. Sometimes it’s enough to offer clues.” Two insightful quotes from the legendary record producer…

    You have 15 seconds…

You have 15 seconds to grab attention. “If you don’t get attention within 15 seconds, it’s very difficult to get it back. And then really tell stories at human scale. Again, most storytellers know this already, but have those authentic characters with real emotions. Let…

How stories work in a data-driven world

The Sea We Swim In: How Stories Work in a Data-Driven World, by Frank Rose is worth a read. It criss-crosses from business stories like Harry’s, the razor brand, and Warby Parker (eyewear) to modern media phenomena like The Waking Dead and West World to…
