ABOUT

We tell your stories

And, through your stories, we help you connect with customers, soothe your stakeholders and influence elites.

We excel at business communications, from case studies and white papers to strategic plans and funding prospectuses. We also write blog posts, web copy, marketing content, speeches and annual reports.

Our target audiences include: business decision makers, senior government officials, potential investors and supervisory boards.

Drawing on solid, senior level, international business experience, we get to the real business issues quickly. We understand your challenges and the problems you solve for your customers. We also understand the numbers and the strategic issues that lie behind the content you need to create.

As a result, we get to the results you need more quickly.

SERVICES

We engage your audience by telling your story

Why? Because the story-telling form is deeply ingrained in we humans. The oldest tales can be traced back to the Bronze Age, predating even written language. As a result, your audience is already attuned and will better remember your message.

It’s more than just words. “Once upon a time” is important, but there is science behind the art, too. We strive to construct your content in the way that will have the deepest, longest-lasting impact.

We write for a wide range of audiences, including: business decision makers in enterprise and small business, government and policy elites, potential investors, supervisory boards and shareholders.

We create content in different forms to meet your need: whitepapers, case studies, blog posts, business plans, briefing papers, business speeches, web copy and content marketing materials.

WHY BURNING PINE?

Ideas Words Numbers

Because it’s more than just words.

It’s not enough to simply find a writer and email them your corporate style guide. You need someone who understands business issues, who can get under the skin of your strategy, someone to augment your thinking and challenge your assumptions.

We bring many years of corporate experience at a senior level. We understand your goals and your audience’s challenges.

You’ll get to a common understanding more quickly, and won’t waste hours explaining why your readers care about working capital, or free cash flows, or the automation of data quality processes.

We’re client-focused, easy to work with and we always deliver. On time.

Time, forgetting and incubation – Oliver Sacks on creativity @Brainpicker #Writing

Maria Popova’s BrainPickings.org has an interesting piece on creativity and Oliver Sacks’ essay on the subject. It takes a special energy, over and above one’s creative potential, a special audacity or subversiveness, to strike out in a new direction once one is settled. It is…

From Cork County Library and Open Culture, via the wonderful Cramped blog: “Many of Napoleon’s biographers have incidentally mentioned that he […] used to carry about a certain number of favorite books wherever he went, whether traveling or camping,” says an 1885 Sacramento Daily Union article posted by…

On Orwell’s Politics and the English Language #Writing

As the BBC unveils a statue of George Orwell, The Times’ Oliver Kamm takes a fresh look at Orwell’s famous essay Politics and the English Language:  Orwell’s essay is a misconceived and blundering polemic whose rules are alternately facile, foolish and destructive. The essay’s opening…

    The weight of paper

One of my corporate clients is an icon of the virtual world, a pioneer that took a process as old as civilisation itself – the visceral exchange of cold, hard cash – and converted it into a convenience of clicks and bits. The firm’s customers…

Dived or dove? I say not you are wrong. #Writing

Here’s an interesting piece on the evolution of grammar. It’s more random that you think. The study also revealed that a flower today is more likely to be “smelled” rather than “smelt” and that the neighbour’s cat probably “dove” behind the sofa – although, as…

Rock and roll rhetoric: Life In The Fast Lane
