What’s an Office? And Who Goes There?

Here are a couple of random offerings from various papers I’ve come across over the last few days:

  • Nine Key Workforce Trends for the Next Decade – This 2010 paper from TomorrowToday’s Graeme Codrington is a succinct summary of some unavoidable changes to the workplace which we are already beginning to see.  As with Lynda Gratton’s book, The Shift, the power of this thinking comes when you consider what it will mean for you; as an employer, as an employee or as a freelancing, sovereign professional.
  • Getting Ready for the Mobile Office – is a paper from HP which brings some of the above trends to life in showing how firms can reduce office costs and make their people both happier and more effective.
  • The Hybrid Organisation – I’ve written about this before and it is in many ways Microsoft’s take on these trends.  However, in the last few months Microsoft’s Nick Morris has been making this real and tangible with his blog-posts.
