The incomparable Tom Waits

Here’s a great profile, courtesy of the BBC: Tom Waits: Tales from a Cracked Jukebox.

I’m never sure if the BBC iPlayer works internationally, or if there are licensing restrictions, so:

I’ve been a passing fan since my teenage years, so I was mildly embarrassed not to know that he wrote Downtown Train, with which Rod Stewart had a big hit.

Here’s the superb, and noir, original …

Of course, he also wrote Temptation, covered beautifully by Diane Krall and, here from NCIS, Cote de Pablo

Every home needs a Tom Waits album.
