Who’s afraid of Machiavelli? – @BBC Imagine

Who’s afraid of Machiavelli?”, part of the BBC’s Imagine series is well worth a watch, if you can get BBC iPlayer wherever you are.

Celebrating the 500th (500th!) anniversary of The Prince, the programme melded a history of the Machiavelli (who we discussed a few weeks ago) and his times with a fascinating cast of commentators including Alastair Campbell (Tony Blair’s chief spin doctor), Michael Dobbs (author of House of Cards and Margaret Thatcher’s Chief of Staff), Colonel Tim Collins (Iraq War veteran famed for his Shakespearean speech to troops) and Game of Thrones author George RR Martin.

The actor Peter Capaldi (the next Doctor) provided wonderfully menacing advice from the book.
