Technology, jobs, education and government – The Economist

Another essential article in last week’s Economist discusses the scale of the coming impact as technology impacts the world of work as never before.

Anyone interested in strategic planning and/or government policy will get value from this.  It does a great job of pulling together recognised strands: how technology is now impacting “white collar” jobs in the way it did manual jobs in the early-mid twentieth century; is education fit for purpose?  How does government balance a mobile elite with a relatively immobile “rump”?

The Adam Smith Institute’s Tim Worstall is a bit sniffy about the article, here (The machines are going to steal all our jobs!).
