Learning from the masters #writing

Here’s a fantastic resource for writers.  Wally Bock has collated advice from writers of all genres and eras.  Kudos to Michael Wade at execupundit for signposting this.

Here are a couple of highlights:

• William Faulkner: “Read, read, read. Read everything — trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You’ll absorb it.”
• James Paterson: “I’ve always concentrated on the product. There are very few cases where people or enterprises or franchises have succeeded unless the product is really good for that audience. [Writers] always want to hear it’s the advertising. It isn’t—it’s the product.”
