Interim Management for HR: Two Sides of the Agility Coin

People Management magazine’s Anna Scott posts a great article on interim management for HR professionals.  The HR sector is interesting from an interim / freelancing point of view because it sits on both sides of the desk.  As this article observes, increasing numbers of HR professionals are taking up the interim management model for their own careers, offering as it does variety, experience, personal flexibility and the opportunity to focus on areas of interest and expertise.  Organisations benefit from improved agility and the ability to draw on required expertise on an “as needed” basis.

Not only that, but interim HR executives are perfectly placed to carry the flexible resourcing message deep into organisations.  We’ve talked before (here and here) about the need for HR to take strategic leadership of the resourcing and agility debate; those who represent HR expertise on demand can be both advocate and case-study.

The article also includes some insightful comments from my IIM colleague, Ad van der Rest.
