An Introvert’s Guide to Networking–HBR Blog

Networking is often anathema to introverts.  If you draw your personal energy from your inner thoughts, nothing is as totally draining as relentlessly polite and pointless small-talk with a stream of strangers.  Stewed coffee, luke-warm chardonnay and stale sandwiches offer little relief.

Nonetheless networking, even if you determine to avoid as execrable anything with “networking” in its title, is inevitable. 

If you are any sort of sovereign professional a freelancer or solopreneur developing some level of ability is critical and Petrelli’s advice is practical and sensible: embrace, strategize and then prioritise recovery time.
